Wow, That Came Out of Nowhere
I had A Christmas Story on for background while Santa was wrapping presents, and I was just about to be ready to go to bed when one of those SPCA commercials came on. One of the kittens that they showed reminded me of Kechara when he was a kitten, and I just lost it. I started sobbing so loudly I woke DH up. He was sweet about that and hugged me, but I still felt bad for waking him up. Usually when something reminds me of Kechara, I've been able to smile sadly and keep going, maybe with a tear or two in my eyes, but nothing major. Not this time. I don't know if it was because I've been more emotional lately or because it was a kitten looking like him instead of an older cat or what, but the strength of my reaction definitely surprised me.

Those commercials are horrific no matter what mental state you're in, but when you're missing a furbaby I'm sure it's even worse. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how many times I've cried at the cheesiest parts of Christmas movies and commercials this year. I shouldn't even be hormonal right now... I think the holidays just mess with your sense of normal. Merry Christmas and don't beat yourself up. It's good to cry when you need to!
ReplyDeleteAs you know, my very talented & gifted social worker daughter, it's all part of the healing process, & the crying was so good for you. I am so sorry for your pain but glad you're processing it. Incredible that there'd be a kitten who looked like K! I truly thought he was unique! (Having known him as a kitten.) I truly hate those commercials & always turn them off. I can't imagine that they're good for anyone, that they do anything but hurt people. I love you!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like they're putting those damn commercials on ALL of the channels. I walked by and saw a baby kitty in a mini cast on tv and lost it.
ReplyDeleteHormonal or not, I can't watch those without bawling :(
