If we're born with all the eggs we'll ever have (absent the ovarrian stem cell advances), since Clomid cycles and especially IVF produce a lot of eggs, does that mean we run out sooner since we're (in some cases at least) still putting out an egg in non-treatment cycles? Do we get menopause sooner?

ReplyDeleteI have wondered also - my GP once told me that a woman gets an average of 400 eggs. So not that many, and your theory that intensive egg stimulation/production would use them up quicker and result in slightly earlier menopause sounds very logical. But I don't know for certain. Wonder if there are any studies on this?

Both of those articles say that IVF patients tend to hit menopause about the same time as everyone else.
